With the deadline at 18:30 UK, the FPL GW5 team news has moved in both directions since this morning. Five flagged players have been cleared, among them
White and
Pedro Porro, while
Mendy has been ruled out and
Shaw downgraded. FPL now lists 93 flagged players across all 20 clubs. These are the ones that change teams.
Cleared to play
The best news is for owners of players who were doubts earlier in the week. White (5.6% owned) and
Mosquera are both off Arsenal's list, and Tottenham have cleared Pedro Porro (8.3%) and
Tonali (2.0%).
Cash (5.1%) is available again for Aston Villa. None of them carries a flag going into the deadline.
Who is ruled out of Gameweek 5?
Mendy is the significant loss: he has gone from a doubt to a full injury, with FPL's note now reading "Concussion - Expected back 11 Oct". He is owned by 6.6%, and our model puts 13.4 projected points over the next six gameweeks at risk. Hull's likeliest replacement is
Herrington, at a 17% start probability.
Elanga (6.7% owned) remains out with an unspecified injury and no return date, with
Touré the model's likeliest replacement at 32%.
Foden is still suspended, FPL's note reading "Suspended until 17 Oct", and
Ndiaye is the likeliest starter in his place at 36%.
Longer absences are unchanged:
Henderson,
Mateta and
Milenković are all listed as expected back on 11 October, and
Collins has a calf injury with no return date, per Brentford's club statement.
The doubts that decide line-ups
João Pedro is still the flag that matters most: owned by 70.1% of teams, still a 75% chance of playing at Brentford, and still in our predicted Chelsea XI, with 32.7 projected points over six gameweeks riding on it. If he does not start,
Welbeck is the model's next in line at only a 9% start probability.
Shaw has been downgraded from this morning: he is now a 50% chance of playing after seven days flagged, per Manchester United's team news. He is owned by 8.9%, and
Yoro is the likeliest replacement at 7%.
Two 75% doubts sit in our predicted XIs and are owned by almost nobody, so they matter more for line-up watchers than for transfers:
Armstrong at Everton, with 17.0 points projected over the six, and
Gomes at Aston Villa with a calf injury.
Flagged today
James (6.8% owned) is Chelsea's new doubt at 75%, with 20.2 points at stake.
Lacroix is the likeliest replacement at 39%, the clearest swap on the list.
Dedić is out for Newcastle with no return date, and
Livramento is projected to start in his place at 32%.
Wilson has a thigh injury for Leeds with no return date.
Targett is a 75% doubt for Hull with an ankle injury.
How we worked this out
Every status, chance of playing and news line is FPL's own, quoted as published, and cleared players are those whose flag has gone since our last check. Ownership is FPL's selected-by figure. The likely replacement is the same-position team-mate with the highest start probability in our minutes model who is not already in its predicted XI, and the projected points are our model's. The full list, club by club, is on injuries and team news, beside the predicted line-ups for every club.
How this is written: an AI model drafts it from our projections and FPL's own data, and it is published only after an automatic check that every number, player and link in it comes from that data. The projections are graded in public on the scorecard.
